Do you have Fibre Broadband?

Do you have Fibre Broadband? Is it “Full Fibre”? -probably not! But it may be on its way as the Government announce trial areas for Fibre straight to your front door!
But I already have it you say!!…..
What you probably have now is fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) these are the green cabinets at the end of your road or nearby. From there the broadband currently travels along the old copper cabling to your house. You can still get fast broadband this way, but it does depend on how far your house is from the cabinet. The further away the weaker the broadband.
The Government is investing £10m into 6 pilot locations where they will be able to get “Full Fibre”. There is already about 2% of premises in the UK that have this already.
If you are already paying for Fibre broadband -FTTC not Full Fibre then you will be experiencing internet speeds from 10mbps to over 70mbps depending on your package. With Full Fibre you will have the ability to get speeds up to 1000mbps (megabytes per second), downloading a HD TV programme in less than 5 seconds!
The pilots will be run in Aberdeenshire, West Sussex, Coventry and Warwickshire, Bristol, West Yorkshire and Greater Manchester.
We recommend you run a speed test and confirm what speed you should be getting according to what you pay for and what you actually are getting, then ring your provider and see what they say. 9 out of 10 they offer you a better service for the same or slightly higher cost but worth it.
